The Recipe

Monkey Bread is a holiday tradition at our house. Doesn’t it look yummy?

Monkey Bread

Ingredients

1 package (3 ½ ounces) cook and serve butterscotch pudding mix

¾ cup sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

½ cup finely chopped pecans (optional)

½ cup butter or margarine, melted

3 tubes (10 ounces each) refrigerated biscuits

Directions

Combine the pudding mix, sugar, cinnamon, and pecans (if desired) in a plastic bowl with a tight-fitting lid. Pour the melted butter into a shallow bowl. Cut the biscuits into quarters. Dip several pieces into the butter, then place in the bowl; cover and shake. Place the coated pieces in a greased 10-inch fluted tube pan. Continue until all of the biscuit pieces are coated. Bake at 350o for 30-35 minutes. Cool in pan for 30 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Yield: 10-12 servings.

NOTES:

1. I always have to use two batches of the pudding/sugar/cinnamon mixture to coat all of the biscuit pieces.

2. You MUST grease or spray the pan with cooking spray – even if using a non-stick pan. Failure to do so will result in having to chisel the monkey bread out of the pan. Trust me on this one. :-)

That’s All, Folks!

That’s all from me! Remember, in order to be eligible to win the grand prize, you must enter each individual giveaway. To make it easier, the full list of participating authors is below. Keep hopping and good luck! I will announce the winner on April 18th.

My favorite spring flower is probably the tulip. So pretty, but they don’t last long. The deer and bunnies come eat the ones in our yard.

Nice giveaway. Wish I could have some of that monkey bread too! (Without having to make it myself…)

We used to have some tulips, but they seem to have disappeared. I think the squirrels have dug up the bulbs.

As yummy as monkey bread is, it is a bit of a pain to make – which is why we only have it once or twice a year. :-)

I love to see cherry blossoms. Really want to attend one of the festivals, like the one in DC for them. They just make me smile :) My parents have a weeping cherry tree, and I love seeing it bloom again, too. Totally with you on dogwoods as well :)

    • Isabella Norse says:

I agree! Cherry blossoms are beautiful. There are a lot of cherry trees in this area; it is stunning when they are in bloom.

Whoopsie, email for the big giveaway ___@___.___.___, fill in the blanks with smiles, alumni, cmu, edu

Glad I’m not the only one in love with cherry blossoms! I hate actual cherries (my theory is too much cherry flavored medicine as a kid), but I love looking at the blossoms :D

      • Isabella Norse says:

Haha! I don’t like real cherries either. Well, I do make an exception for the occasional maraschino cherry. :-)

  3. Barrie says:

I make monkey bread once a year for Christmas morning, although my recipe is a little different.

Daffodils are my favorite flower. They come up each year and when they do, I know it’s close to spring!

Monkey bread is our Christmas tradition too. :-)

Same here! When the robins and daffodils appear, I know that spring has arrived.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • Isabella Norse says:

Daisies are my second favorite. :-) Thanks for stopping by (and for signing up for my newsletter). I have you down for two entries.

You had me at “butterscotch pudding”!
My favorite spring flower may be peach blossoms, since I have more pictures of my peach tree in bloom than any other flower. The whole tree in bloom makes such a dramatic backdrop to the white blossoms of the plums and the yellow daffodils in the rock garden at its feet. What is not to love about spring? (Besides the pollen allergies, that is.)

I love tulips, but my absolute fave is night-blooming jasmine!

    Thanks for the amazing giveaway!

Cherry blossoms are beautiful! We have a lot of cherry trees around here and the scenery is amazing when they are in bloom.
