They say confession is good for the soul, so here goes:

Hello. My name is Izzy and I am a book cover junkie.

It was driven home to me this weekend just how bad my addiction is when I bought yet another cover - for yet another story that hasn’t been written. *sigh* This makes the third cover I have purchased for a story which may be years away from publication. I hope I will be blessed with a long life so I can get all of these stories out of my head and into the world!

I have worked with three cover designers to date:

Melody Simmons of ebookindiecovers.com created the beautiful covers for Assassin’s Heart and The Purrfect Partner. She also created the original cover for Virtually Yours. All of the covers I have purchased from Melody so far have been pre-made. I hope to work with her on a custom cover for the second book in my Paws and Effect series soon.

I contracted a custom cover from Kim Killion of The Killion Group for Dial V for Vampire, the first book in my Kudzu Korners sweet paranormal romance series. Dial V will be released later this summer so stay tuned for a cover reveal! (The cover is adorable, I can’t wait to show it off!)

However, this weekend, I realized that all of the covers I have purchased for my unwritten stories are by the same designer, Ida Jansson of Amygdala Designs. Ida’s work is absolutely breathtaking! So, I have decided to give you a sneak peek at the first two covers I purchased from Ida so you can see just how fabulous she is.

The One is sci-fi romance and will be the first book in The Imeeri Chronicles. (The Imeeri are empathic, reclusive aliens.)

I adore everything about this cover – the colors, the couple, the way they are looking at each other, the way she is touching his chin… everything!

Kiss of the Phoenix will be the first book in The Immortals series. The idea for this book/series is still very much in development but seems to be moving in a new direction for me. I suspect the series will be Young Adult – or possibly New Adult - urban fantasy. Once again, I love everything about this cover. I knew as soon as I saw it that I had to have it – it couldn’t be more perfect for my story.

I have my covers set up as the wallpaper on my laptop so, I get to see them frequently. I often squee silently to myself with excitement – I’m so glad they’re mine! Seeing my covers also motivates me to keep moving forward with my writing. On that note, it’s time for me to put an end to this post. I’ve got to get back to edits on Dial V for Vampire. (It is due to the editor the first week of July. But, we aren’t going to talk about that right now. I don’t want to hyperventilate, LOL!)

So, what do you think of these covers? If you are an author, who are your favorite cover designers?
