Not Your Average Bucket List

Written or not, I think most of us have a bucket list. Like many of you, I hope to travel some day but, that’s not what this post is about. This post is about the more… unusual items on my list.

1. I want to fire a real sniper rifle. When I play video games such as Halo, I love to play as a sniper. I am a very happy woman when I have a virtual sniper rifle in my hands. Just once, I would like the opportunity to shoot a real one. (No, not at someone, just in case you were worried.)

2. If you have ever seen a demonstration of the capabilities of a K-9 police dog or a military working dog, you know there is someone who dons a thick padded suit and plays the role of the bad guy for the dogs to attack. I would love to be that person. I’m sure there are all sorts of rules and regulations against that sort of thing but, a woman can dream, can’t she?

3. I’m a big fan of police shows such as Law and Order: SVU, Castle, and my current favorite, Criminal Minds. I really, really, really want to kick in a door like the police on those shows do. In the interest of full disclosure, I did break down a door once when I was about 13 or 14. My young niece had gone in my bedroom, locked the door, and then got her foot caught in the bedframe. My niece was trapped and panicking. My mother was just panicking. I broke down the door, but it was very unsatisfying. It was a hollow-core door and the wood cracked around the doorknob. I want to kick in a door like on TV – I want the doorframe to crack and fly across the room in pieces while the door itself impacts the wall behind it hard enough to crack sheetrock. *sigh* Doesn’t that sound like fun? ;-)

4. I love hunting for fossils. So far, my searches have been limited to those found in the ocean such as shark’s teeth, puffer fish dental plates, and sting ray barbs. (See the largest tooth  I have found to date HERE.) I want to expand that search to include land-based animals. I’ll probably start with a trip to the Peace River in Florida but ultimately, I want to go on a dinosaur dig.

5. Last but not least, I want to be a part of a flash mob. The radio station I listen to recently attempted to beat the Guinness World Record for number of people Christmas Caroling. While not exactly a flash mob, it was close enough for me. Had I been retired, I would have been there with bells on!

There you have it – the weirdest items on my bucket list. Don’t leave me hanging! What unusual items are on your list?
